Malaysian Curriculum with Global Perspective

We combine the best of the Malaysian National Curriculum with a global perspective and prepare our students for global success. Sri UCSI Subang blends both local and international approaches to education which our students can benefit from a diverse school experience and culture. Our school strongly embraces the belief that learning occurs in many different settings beyond the walls of a traditional classroom. We introduce our students to a variety of exciting, stimulating and enriching experiences. We further encourage the growth of a global perspective in our school by integrating concepts such as international mindsets, sustainable development and 21st-century skills to better equip our students for the demands of the ever-changing world.

We understand and appreciate that every child possesses unique strengths and talents. We strive to create a stimulating environment and a meaningful learning process, focusing on the holistic development of the child. We believe that children will flourish when they are equipped with skills in exploring ideas and knowledge, collaborating effectively with others and solving problems through creativity and tenacity.

Why Study at Sri UCSI Subang

Educational Model

Primary School

Sri UCSI School Subang (Primary School) follows the Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR) that culminates in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination by the Malaysian Examination Syndicate in Standard 6. With English as the primary mode of communication, the school enhances the strength of the local curriculum amidst a vibrant, international environment that emphasises the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as integral learning and teaching tool to encourage students’ active participation in the entire learning process. We will also incorporate Microsoft Education tools and resources such as Office 365, Teams, Hacking STEM and Minecraft Education into our teaching and learning process. We are committed to educating our children to be active and independent learners in the acquisition of knowledge and skills in an international setting, within a safe and conducive environment.

While academic excellence in public examinations is a vital aspect of the learner’s success, we also conduct ongoing formative assessments to gauge the learner’s progress. Assessment for Learning is an integral part of learning which enables close monitoring of learners’ attainment based on the learning standards. From this, learners become more engaged and independent in their learning. In preparing for learners of the 21st century, we offer a range of subjects at the Primary level.

The subjects offered at the Primary level are:

The increased proportion of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) content in the curriculum as well as in the summative assessments has gradually brought about a shift from recalling in learning to critical thinking that will prepare the learners for global competition.

Cambridge Programme

Sri UCSI School Subang adds depth and substance to our curriculum by enhancing it with selected elements from the United Kingdom education syllabus; especially in English, Mathematics and Science. The English curriculum implemented and taught follows the Cambridge O-Level or Cambridge 1119 standards. We also promote the teaching of Mathematics and Science in English using textbooks and resources that are recognised internationally from the United Kingdom. Students in Standard 6 and Form 3 sit for the Cambridge Checkpoint exams which are set by the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE). Additionally, Sri UCSI KL allocates additional learning periods for all core subjects, unlike local government schools.

Cambridge Primary

The subjects taught are English, Mathematics and Science. Students do have the option to sit for the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Test in Primary 6. The tests are marked in Cambridge and provide us with an external international benchmark for our students’ performance. Each student receives a statement of achievement from Cambridge.

Cambridge Lower Secondary

The subjects taught are English, Mathematics and Science. Students do have the option to sit for the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Tests in Form 3. The tests are marked in Cambridge and provide us with an external international benchmark for our students’ performance. Each student receives a statement of achievement from Cambridge.

Only selected students in the Upper Secondary will have the chance to study IGCSE and the subjects taught are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English. Students will sit for the IGCSE examination by Cambridge Assessment International Education.

Mandarin Provision

Although English and Bahasa Melayu are the main languages of instruction, we offer different levels of Mandarin Language lessons to learners of various backgrounds. With this, learners in Sri UCSI Springhill can work well in a three-language environment. In addition to the Mandarin Language examinations in PT3 and SPM, there are also opportunities for learners to do the internationally recognised Chinese Proficiency Tests conducted by the Confucius Institute (Hanban). To ensure a stronger Mandarin provision of the students', the school has also provided the Mandarin Language Proficiency Certification of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK). The HSK programme is a Chinese Proficiency Test used as an entry requirement for enrolment into any university in China.
